Volvo has unveiled their new XC90! As many of us can remember, back in the day Volvo was the number one selling European luxury car in the U.S but that is not the case anymore with Mercedes and Audi beating Volvo on the sales dept.
The new XC90 comes in two flavors the t6 and the t8, with both models sharing the same combustion engine. However when it comes to the t8 there is a surprise, it includes “plugin hybrid” functionality to the power train. This means that the seven-seater can run either on gas or electricity… or both!
The XC90 t8 model packs a whopping 400 horsepower and 472 lb/ft of torque thanks to its supercharged and turbocharged 2.0 4 cylinder engine. The vehicle clocks 5.3 seconds on the 0 to 100kmh test.
The new model also offers incredible fuel efficiency at 59mpg on the t8 version. Amazing for a half a ton vehicle isn’t it? And that is not all, the Volvo XC90 also carries a fair bit of technology inside such as an LCD panel instead of your regular analog speedometer. And in the middle console? An iPad sized touchscreen that provides the driver with access to maps, music, comfort control etc. In fact, the center console of the Volvo is one of the best we have seen in recent models rivaling such giants in tech as Tesla and Mercedes.
What do you think about the new Volvo XC90? Would you let just about anyone ship this car for you?
